Description

Additional photos are available here for your perusal.

The Yamaha YSR50 was the most common of the rare 50cc sportbikes that came from Japan in the late 80s and early 90s. An instant classic, the YSR50 was always street legal and always seems to put a smile on the face of riders and spectators.

Built to look like a mini RZ500, the YSR50 also featured mini performance. The 49.3cc two-stroke engine was capable of pushing the bike up to 38 miles per hour, but companies like Team Calamari have been making stock performance numbers useless with years of aftermarket parts and performance modifications if you are so inclined.

This example is VIN: 2AL051577. We believe it to be an 1988-1990 model but cannot confirm. This came to Iconic as part of a YSR package from Japan; prior history is not known. The rest have been sold but this one is definitely a project. Please pay special attention to the condition photos, rusted tank, and notes in the service area of the listing. We have found aftermarket tanks in the past and the items we mention could be fixed but this is going to need a restoration or it may be best used as a parts bike. We already have our fill of projects right now, so we’re offering this up with no reserve to help make some space.

The odometer shows 1,301 kilometers (808 miles).

Maintenance:
In preparation for the listing, we cleaned and tuned the carb and replaced the air filter, the fuse holder, the ignition coil, and the spark plug.

Olly did the work, he notes the following in his condition report:

Tire Years – Front/ Rear: Aged, pre-2000
Tire Life – Front/ Rear: 85%
Tire Pressure – Front/ Rear: 10PSI
Brake Life – Front/ Rear: 95%
Hydraulic Fluid – Front: Aged, Low
Engine Oil – Aged
Killswitch: Ok
Horn: Ok
Battery: 1.056V

BIKE CONDITION:
* Bike run on bottle, never test ridden.
– Fuel Tank rusted through, cannot be lined
– Forks Pitted
– Front Brake master not holding high pressure, may need flush and fill/rebuild.
– Chain Rusted
– Rear seat cover missing
– Brake pedal bent
– 2T oil tank missing, oil injection system in-place

Modifications:
This YSR50 is completely stock.

Inside of the tank:

It is riding on Dunlop K828 tires that have aged out.

The sale includes one key.

Cosmetic Blemishes: please see the album up top for all known cosmetic blemishes. Here is a selection:
