Description
Additional photos of this 1988 Suzuki GSX-R750 are available here for your perusal.
After wowing the world in 1985 with the debut of the GSX-R750, Suzuki introduced the second generation in 1988 with revisions throughout: a new frame, new styling, and a motor with a bigger bore and shorter stroke that displaced 748cc.
The short stroke motor bumped up power to 112 and yielded a higher redline, but the most notable new feature was the design of the carbs. Nicknamed “slingshot”, they were designed as a hybrid of flat-slide carbs and CV carbs. The term referred to the shape of the slide, and the name was so popular that riders used it to describe the entire generation of Gixxer!
This bike (VIN: JS1GR77A0J2102975) was sent to us from British Columbia to make up for a trade in which we were done wrong, and we just want to get it out of here. To make it exciting, we’re offering it up with no reserve!
Please note that it’s offered with a Canadian title and the Vehicle Status shows rebuilt. We do not know the history of this machine beyond that. There are several scratches/minor cosmetic issues and one small crack in the bodywork – we have included photos of everything we found in the album up top. We do not have the mirrors but our White Glove service can source them for you if you wish. In addition, please note that the “750 Slingshot” decal on the top of the tail has been clearcoated.
It has been sitting for four months but we had Olly put her up on the bench to clean the carbs as well as install a new battery and throttle cable so it now runs.
Aftermarket extras include a K&N air filter…
We hope the next owner gets this bike back on the road or track, and we expect to see photos when that happens!
