Nowadays you can get all kinds of 250-400cc entry level sportbikes in the US, but back in 1990 the entire market was basically the Kawasaki Ninja 250 and the Honda VTR250. In Honda’s home market of Japan, things were a bit more exciting. Building off of the success that Honda saw with the original ‘Babyblade’ 250R, the 250RR was the successor to the venerable featherweight motorcycle, offering a robust and feature-packed platform for any motorcycle enthusiast from the touge to the track.
With a inline-four engine and a weight of just 350 lbs., the 250RR was good for roughly 45 horsepower at an astounding 19,000 RPM redline. With gear-driven cams and a direct air intake system, the MC22 was a swift package that offered substantial suspension to support the riding style of this quarter-liter sportbike. With adjustable preload in the front and a mono-shock out back, the 250RR was at home when at lean.
This example is VIN: MC221007230. The seller acquired it 13 years ago from Japan and states, “The Honda MC22 caught my attention with its small-displacement, four-cylinder engine and high-revving performance. It was one of the first bikes I ever imported.”
During his ownership, the seller has covered approximately 250 kilometers (155 miles). The odometer shows 10,637 kilometers (6,609 miles).
Maintenance:
In preparation for the listing, the seller had us flush, fill and bleed both the coolant and brake fluid, and diagnose and repair the front left turn signal switch and front brake switch. The seller states “the fuel tank has been professionally cleaned and lined by an old school professional prior to sending the bike to Iconic. The fairings and fuel tank are OEM Honda.”
