Description

Additional photos of this Kawasaki ZXR400 are available here for your perusal.

Introduced in 1989, the ZXR400 was one of the first motorcycles that would compete in the hotly-contested 400cc market in Japan. The 1990 model was also known as the H2, and it came with minor revisions including a curved radiator and some updates to the swingarm. It was also the last year to feature the iconic dual headlights.

The ’90 model featured an impressive 14,500 rpm redline, near the power peak of 12,500 rpm (where the engine was putting out 61 horsepower). The engine was paired with a six-speed transmission, triple disc brakes, and a dry weight of 359 pounds.

This example is VIN: ZX400H008639.

The odometer shows 43,167 kilometers (26,822 miles).

The owner purchased it from an auction in Japan and had it imported approximately nine months ago. It arrived in worse shape than he was expecting so he bought a different ZXR400 from us instead and is letting this go to help defray the cost. He also had us source a US (Oregon) title for it. Before he decided to buy a ZXR400 from our inventory, he had us install new Dunlop Q3+ tires with date codes of 4420 and 4520.

In preparation for the listing, we had Steve the Professor give it a once over to verify what this Kawi needs. His list was:
– Carb clean & sync (it does not currently run but the engine turns over)
– Exhaust studs & gaskets
– Battery
– Tank needs to be cleaned.
– Intake ducts
– Windscreen
– Misc. hardware all over bike
– Idle adjuster for carbs
– Front rotors (one is warped)
– Rear seat
– Front brake pads
– Fresh fluids (oil, brake, coolant, fork oil)

The sale includes a tool kit and one key.

Currently located at our facility in Santa Monica, California (please make an appointment for an inspection), this Kawasaki is offered on a clean Oregon title. The sale also includes the import paperwork from Japan.
