Description
6-23 Update: Thanks to Stuart, who pointed out that this has the steel swingarm from a 900SS CR instead of the aluminum swingarm from a SS SP. “Besides being heavier steel, the rear caliper is also mounted on a swing-arm bracket on top of the rotor, instead of hanging on rod linkage below the rotor like an SP should have.”

In this piece on Cycle World, Peter Egan says that this 900SS is “the used motorcycle you need” and notes that “they made perfectly comfortable long-distance touring bikes, but on winding roads through the Black Hills, they metamorphosed back into sportbikes of deep finesse, with killer, real-world midrange and light, intuitive handling.”
Mikuni carbs fed the air-cooled 904cc air/oil cooled V-Twin which was good for just under 80 horsepower. Combined with a dry weight of 414 pounds and classic Ducati styling, the 900SS was quite the commercial success – almost 28k of them were sold over a seven year run.
This example is VIN: ZDM1LC4M5PB007149.
The odometer shows 22,570 miles.
In preparation for the listing, the seller had us give it a detail, replace the timing belts, install a new battery, change the oil and filter, flush the front/rear brakes and the clutch, install new spark plugs, clean and oil the K&N air filter, and clean/sync the carbs.
Daniel did the work, he notes that the turn signal switch is broken, the rear oil line is pinched, it’s missing the fuse box lid, the controls hit the gauge cluster, the muffler has some holes, the high beam indicator is always on, and all the bodywork has varying amounts of damage.
Spiegler rotors, Galfer brake lines.
Oberon clutch slave cylinder, aftermarket rear sets.
Clutch cover delete, STM billet crankcase breather.
Aftermarket rear turn signals and tail tidy.
