Description
Introduced in 1997, the Lanza DT230 was built for the Japanese market where (as Yamaha themselves put it), “users generally avoid models with a large chassis and high seat height.”
This lightweight (251 pounds) dual-sport featured a 2-stroke 224cc single-cylinder engine which produced a claimed 40 horsepower.
Despite the diminutive displacement, Yamaha packed this bike with some impressive technological innovations for the time – including their first ever use of traction control! At that time, the system controlled ignition timing based on the rate of acceleration vs. change in engine rpm to determine if the rear wheel was slipping.
This example is VIN: 4TP005485. The seller imported this bike from Japan.
The odometer shows 38,460 KM which is 23,898 miles.
