Description

Introduced in 1992 with a twenty-year production run, the RS125 was what European teenagers dreamed of when growing up thanks to the sportsbike looks and sensation despite the diminutive engine and restricted-license-friendly output numbers. It got a revised Rotax motor in 1996 and a facelift in 1999.

The 124.8 cc engine produced 11 kW (15 hp) in stock form, though once de-restricted it could easily put out twice that number. MCN states “For most of the 1990s, Aprilia’s RS 125 was the must-have 125cc bike – both the hottest and coolest thing a 17-year-old could plaster a tatty L-plate on. A potent, shrieking banshee of a water-cooled two-stroke motor, wrapped in a gorgeous aluminium twin-spar frame, blessed with credible chassis components, a full-size riding position and a sleek, sporty fairing.”

“All of that desirability was multiplied several times over by its Italian exotica kudos and genuine Grand Prix pedigree – and even more so after a pimply 18-year-old called Valentino Rossi won the 125GP title in 1997. Owning an Aprilia RS125 was as good as things got, a universal badge of honour. It was also a great leveller, its desire cutting across classes. From rich kids swanning about on Daddy’s showroom-fresh minter to hard-charging chavs terrorising town-centres on rattle-can lash-ups, all across Europe young riders aspired to Aprilia’s RS125 in astonishing numbers.” – MCN

This example is VIN: ZD4MP0000V00158. The seller states “I inherited it from my father when he passed away in 2022. I completed the title transfer into my name in 2023.

The odometer shows 6,511 KM which is 4,045 miles. The seller states “My dad was never a huge fan of sport bikes or European vehicles, but he couldn’t resist adding something rare to his collection. About a decade ago, he got the chance to pick up a California street legal RS 125 and it occupied a special spot in his garage ever since. As the only sport bike and only Italian in his collection, my dad doted on this one and always enjoyed showing it off on the streets.”
