Description
Update 12/24: This bike was previously listed as an “S” model. However, after further research this is in fact a 996 Biposto which has 996S tail bodywork, 5-spoke wheels, carbon fiber components, and Öhlins shock and steering damper. This was determined after entering the VIN on the Ducati recall site.
Please note: This bike does not start. As such, there is no cold start video.

Replacing the legendary 916, the 996 was Ducati’s flagship superbike from 1999-2002. The gorgeous Tamburini-designed aesthetics remained, but upgrades like larger pistons and valves, a stronger crankshaft, lighter wheels, and better brakes all combined for an improved riding experience.
Per Motorcycle News: “Everything about owning this design icon feeds my love for it. I never tire of seeing it in the garage, of the lazy churn as those big pistons pulse into life and that thunderous burst of ignition on start-up… I love how dense, taut and compact it feels, how at home it is mid-corner, or how its rhythms and sonorous tones get inside your brain. Riding it feels excitingly illicit, like having an affair, without actually being unfaithful. Every ride feels like falling in love again.”
This example is VIN: ZDM1SB5T1YB007993. The seller states, “This was the first 996 I bought and restored. Had it now about 12 years, this was the one that started my 916/996/998 addiction! After I’d finished restoring this one, I entered the Pebble Beach / Monterey Car Week’s ‘Concurso Italiano’ with it, and my F4. Honestly, the only reason I entered them, was to get the cheaper entry tickets! Back then, a VIP pass was $250 a day, but you got two VIP passes free if you were exhibiting a vehicle, and the registration was $100. I took two bikes to get 4 VIP tickets, what I didn’t expect was THIS 996 came second in the motorcycle category! I had to drive it up the lawn, received a trophy, even got interviewed live on ESPN! I’ve just posted a few photos of the day here: https://x.com/searchmartin/status/1869453203668165101. After I left the USA in 2020, this (and the rest of my bikes) have been sat in dry storage in Gilroy CA, between June 20 and September 2024, hence being listed as projects. I rode the bike into the storage unit in the first place. Happy answering any questions in the comments section.”
The odometer shows 10,194 miles.
