Click here for an VINData Motorcycle History Report on this 2001 Ducati ST4. Additional photos are available here for your perusal.
Before the rise of adventure bikes, sport tourers were the go to motorcycles for those wanting traveling practicality mixed with sporting capabilities. Ducati decided it wanted a slice of this pie by releasing the ST2 in 1996 and further expanded the range with the ST4 in 1998.
Using a de-tuned 916 engine, the ST4 produces 107hp and 65.6 lb-ft of torque. Suspension was handled by fully-adjustable Showa forks and shock front and rear, and stopping controlled by Brembos, just like Ducati’s superbikes of the time. Ducati ended the ST4 in 2003 and the ST line as a whole in 2007, however, owner’s praise the bike’s good mid-range power and spirited handling on ling distance rides.
This example is VIN: ZDM1TB8S01B004248. The seller purchased the bike July 2014 from a private party out of Long Beach, California, and states, “I bought this bike because I wanted a bike for long distance trips. I’ve ridden it to Lake Tahoe twice. It handles like a sport bike (996 engine) and it’s comfortable enough for eight-hour rides. The dark blue color is somewhat rare.”
During his ownership the seller has covered approximately 5,000 miles. The odometer shows 58,463 miles.
