Introduced in the early 90s, the Aprilia RS50 became a breakout hit in 1999 thanks to an aluminum frame (making it the first mass-produced 50cc with a die-cast aluminum frame) as well as a styling update reminiscent of Aprilia’s GP race bikes. European youths were all over it as licensing rules were relaxed for <50cc motorcycles and scooters.
The heart of the ’02 RS50 was a 49.7cc Motori-Minarelli AM6 two-stroke engine paired with a six-speed transmission. Unrestricted models are capable of 60 miles per hour, depending on the weight of the rider.
For 2002, the RS50 was available in Grigio Dust and Diablo Black, the latter of which is featured on today’s listing.
Manufactured in November of 2001, this example is VIN: ZD4PGF0062S000903.
The seller acquired it four months ago from a customer that he built the bike for when he was running Bay Area Two Stroke.
Since then he’s covered 150 miles and the odometer shows 6,238 miles.
Modifications:
75cc big bore kit with Motoforce crank, Vforce reed cage, Metrakit CDI, 21mm Dell’Orto carburetor, aluminum high flow radiator.
Blue Ergal bodywork bolts, flush mount front turn signals.
Cosmetic Blemishes:
There are several minor scratches in the bodywork as well as stickers on the bodywork and on the frame. Photos of all known cosmetic issues are included in the album up top.
It is wearing Pirelli MT75 tires with date codes of 1809 and 0309.
The sale includes one key.
The seller is letting it go as he has two Aprilia RS50s. Currently located at our facility in Santa Monica, California, (please make an appointment for an inspection), this Aprilia is offered on a clean California title with registration current through March 2022.
