Retro-inspired modern classics seem to be all the rage right now, but a few companies were well-ahead of the game. One of the most notable efforts was the Kawasaki ZRX1200R – Cycle World called it “a replica of a replica“, as it was designed to make you think of the iconic 1982 Eddie Lawson Replica.

It was available in silver, red, and the traditional Kawasaki Green, but there was also a beautiful shade of Candy Lightning Blue/Galaxy Silver.

The 1,164cc DOHC liquid-cooled engine produced 123 horsepower, good for a top speed of over 120 mph. It’s fun but also comfortable if you’re the kind of person that wants to ride for hours at a time.

This example is VIN: JKAZR9A113A026981. The seller acquired this bike roughly a year ago from a friend.

During his ownership, the seller has covered roughly 13,000 miles. The odometer shows 53,106 miles.

“I purchased the bike from an elderly riding buddy who decided it was too much bike for him to ride anymore. He was the second owner and the bike’s full history was known to me. I have been a ZRX fiend since 2000. I have owned at least 12 ZRXs over the years, having raced and ridden them for many miles. I picked up this Blue beast because I love the extra boost that the 1224 kit gives the bike. Now that I am downsizing my collection for the expanding family, I am letting go of some of my more aggressive bikes. This bike has been completely reliable and meticulously maintained by the two previous owners and me.”

Maintenance:
“Within the past 2 months and 200 miles:
-New Continental tires front/rear
-New brake pads front and rear
-New wheel bearings
-New K&N POD filter replacements installed
-Carbs synced and tuned
-Oil & filter change”
