At the end of 2002, Kawasaki installed a cheater 636 motor in the ZX-6R. The extra displacement was great for the majority of riders as they spent most of their time on the street and not on the track. But for the limited few that wanted to compete and had to stick under a 600cc displacement limit, the 599cc double R was the way to go. 2003 was the first year of the ZX-6RR, a package that would last through 2006. Homologation rules for AMA/FIM required a minimum production run of 1,000 units, and outside of the motor the RR was quite similar to the single R (though with the option of an accessory race kit). Despite the racier feel, the $8,399 ZX-6RR was $200 cheaper than Honda’s 600 repli-racer.
This example is VIN: JKAZX4K143A002746, Engine #: ZX600KE002747. The seller acquired it here on Iconic Motorbike Auctions in June of 2022 – the previous owner acquired it four years prior from the original owner.
During the seller’s ownership, he has covered roughly 1,500 miles. The odometer shows 4,618 miles.
The seller is letting it go as “I’m in the Army and just came down on orders overseas and will be gone few years.”
Maintenance:
“I have maintenance documentation from the previous owner. Upon receiving the bike I conducted maintenance, not because it needed it just for my peace of mind:
– Kawasaki 10w40 full synthetic oil change
– K&N oil filter and air filter
– Brake fluid flush
– Engine Ice coolant flush”
Modifications:
The tank has been lined and it has aftermarket “Kawasaki” decals to replace aftermarket “Ninja” decals that were previously on it.
OEM seat cowl, aftermarket tail tidy, aftermarket turn signals.
Cosmetic Blemishes:
The seller states that there are no cosmetic blemishes.
The sale includes two keys, the passenger seat, owner’s manual, Hayne’s manual, some maintenance records, and the original passenger pegs.
Currently located in Copperas Cove, Texas, this Kawasaki is offered on a clean Texas title.
