At the turn of the millennium, the MV Agusta brand was revived with the release of a new flagship, the 750cc F4. Penned by the great Massimo Tamburini, the F4 boasted a ground-breaking design that redefined the modern superbike. In the years that followed, the F4 underwent a series of revisions and model updates, though the bike’s incredible aesthetics went largely unchanged.

Underneath the proverbial hood, MV fitted the bike with a sonorous transverse four-cylinder capable of pumping out a hearty 126 horses and 52.8 lb-ft of torque.

What’s more, the engine was surrounded by quality components such as 49mm Showa front forks, a Sachs rear shock, and a set of Nissin brakes. Ultimately, however, it was the styling that proved the bike’s pièce de résistance — particularly the quad organ pipe exhaust.

This example is VIN: ZCGAGFLJ73V005750. Per the seller, “The F4 was always joint-favorite of mine alongside the 916. They have to be in this red/silver colorway though, to match both the press bikes and the movie appearances (who else remembers that entrance in Gone in 60 Seconds?!). I found this bike about 10 years ago on the peninsula in the Bay Area, previous owner put about 15k miles on it commuting to his job at Google, where if I recall correctly, he was a VP in something like HR (nothing I recall being that interesting at the time). Since buying it, I only ever used it to either commute from Los Gatos to Mountain View, or the occasional blast up skyline to Alice’s on a Sunday morning. Unlike my other MV Agusta, this one has actually always been totally reliable in my ownership, other than a first day incident where I ran out of fuel and needed a friend to stop with a gas can to get me going again! For those that have never driven one, these things feel nothing like their Tamburini cousins made by Ducati, where the 916 range feels brutish these feel balanced and highly strung. They still have more soul than any Japanese bike I’ve owned, its just a different soul to their all-red counterparts.”

The odometer shows 25,593 miles.
