Description

Additional photos of this 2006 Aprilia SR50 are available here for your perusal.

When it was introduced in 1992, Aprilia’s SR50 was a revelation thanks to several features rarely or never-before found in the segment – liquid-cooling, double disc brakes, direct injection, and 13″ wheels. The clever features and sporty positioning has made it one of the most successful 50cc scooters of all time. Aprilia’s sold over one million of them, and while it left the US market in 2015 it’s still available around the world.

1999 was the first year you could buy one in North America, and the model got a complete revamp in 2004. This second generation was offered in two versions worldwide – the base SR50 R (carbureted) and the SR50 R Factory (fuel injected). North America only got the Factory.

In addition to the updated styling and lion’s head graphics, the second generation saw significant updates to the frame and injection system which led to 60% less oil consumption and maintenance intervals that were twice as long.

But it wasn’t just the engine which impressed – unlike most 50cc scooters, the SR50 featured quality Grimeca disc brakes, excellent instrumentation, a large aftermarket community for upgrades, and styling that aped their flagship sport bikes.

Manufactured in May of 2006, this SR50 is VIN: ZD4VFC0026S001142.

The odometer shows 1,057 miles.

This is part of the estate sale that you’ve probably seen us mention on Instagram. As such, most of the history is not known. It has been sitting for several years and does not currently run. We cleaned the gas tank and special-ordered a fuel hose for it, but the fuel pump needs to be replaced.

Cosmetic Blemishes:

Currently located at our facility in Santa Monica, California, this Aprilia is offered on a clean California title. Our contact at the DMV says that it’s on non-op but there are back fees of $131 to get it registered through November of 2021.
