Click here for an VINData Motorcycle History Report on this 2006 BMW R1200GS Adventure.

Upon its introduction in 1999, BMW’s R1150GS redefined the adventure bike category. By 2004, however, the model was beginning to show its age and, order to stay competitive, BMW had to give it an overhaul.

What resulted was the R1200GS, a platform that weighed some 66lbs lighter than its predecessor with the added benefit of a further 19hp.

If you want the ultimate package in Beemer’s touring line, the Adventure comes with a hefty 8.7 gallon fuel tank, good for 300 miles, bigger windshield, bigger footpegs, knobby tires, and shocks with 20mm more travel. It also sports some armor to protect against falls, crash bars wrap the tank, head guards appear on the cylinder heads, and hand guards out front the grips.

Manufactured May 2006, this example is VIN: WB10317A76ZR40955. The seller purchased the bike from a private party a year and a half ago and states, “I bought this bike in Feb 2024 with an unknown background. I performed basic maintenance upon my purchase, and it remained dependable. I rode around the Austin hill country on long distance trips until moving to Houston in Dec 2024 where it sat in climate controlled indoor storage, with the occasional short distance wake-up ride. I hope for this bike to be used in the proper capacity it was made for.”

During her ownership, the seller has covered approximately 1,000-1,500 miles. The odometer shows 38,868 miles.

Maintenance:
The seller reports no mechanical issues and notes, “ABS brake flush and oil change done 2/2024, Fuel pump and controller, fork seals, rear diff fluid, done 5/2024.”
Modifications:
“LED front blinkers, LED rear tail light with integrated blinkers, removable panniers, X2 lithium battery.”

It is riding on Continental TKC 70 tires with date codes of 5023 and 2224.
