After a hell of a challenge from BMW with the S1000RR, Yamaha took back the superbike crown in 2015 with an all-new R1. There were revisions across the board, but the highlights were the crossplane-crank engine and a class-leading electronics package.
As RideApart put it in their review, “the 2015 Yamaha YZF-R1 might be one of the most capable and advanced race bikes right out of the box ever widely offered to the general public..” In fact, the author of that review liked the R1 so much that he later bought one for himself.
This example is VIN: JYARN39Y0FA000713. The original owner, a middle-aged woman in Burbank, California purchased the bike new and subsequently sold it to it’s current owner on an Iconic Auction in April of 2021. Since then he’s covered approximately 3,700 miles, and a few track days, including the private event we hosted at Laguna Seca in 2022.
The odometer shows 16,248 miles.
