Additional photos of these Doug Toland leathers are available here for your perusal.

Our buddy Kevin Erion has opened up his private stash of leathers, and we’ll be selling a few suits from some of your favorite Erion Honda AMA riders! This suit was worn by Doug Toland.

Doug had a fascinating career which started thanks to an abundance of skill and a little bit of luck: “The turning point for Toland came during an AFM Six-Hour Endurance race at Willow Springs in ’83. Toland just showed up to watch some buddies race and one of the team riders couldn’t make it at the last minute. They asked Toland if he wanted to ride and even though he had to scramble and borrow riding gear. Riding a nearly stock Kawasaki GPz750, Toland and teammate Jeff Tuttobene stunned a slew of strong teams to win the race. That was Toland’s first high-profile victory and gained him a reputation as one of the top up-and-coming riders in the ultra-competitive SoCal road racing scene.”

He’d go on to compete in endurance racing, AMA Superbike, and test for Cycle World for years as well. In 1988, thanks to his performance on a Cycle World bike at the 1988 WERA 24 hour race at Willow Springs, he moved to World Endurance racing and ended up winning the world championship in 1993 – a proud moment for America as that series was typically dominated by Europeans.

Toland wrapped up his career in America, joining Erion Racing in 1996. With Andrew Stroud as a teammate, he won the AMA SuperTeams championship in 1996. The following year he placed 2nd overall in AMA Formula Xtreme, and then switched from the track to the office and joined American Honda – where he worked until retiring just last year.

We are unable to determine when Doug wore this suit. Do any of you Toland fans know?

The suit was made by Corner and branded Bell2. It has been crashed in.
