Description
Additional photos of this Moto Morini 500 project are available here for your perusal.
In the late 70s, Moto Morini debuted a larger version of their incredibly popular 350cc V-Twin. Their 500 was available in two flavors – Strada and Sport.
Both versions came with Heron heads (the roof of the head is flat and the combustion chamber itself is cut into the crown of the pistons).
Grimeca supplied calipers for the triple disc brakes and the suspension was handled by Marzocchi front and rear.
We do not have paperwork on this 500 Sport (VIN: 500-W*04724* DGM-16991-OM, Engine #: 04724) and it is sold on a Bill of Sale. Based on the information found on this site, we believe it to be a 1980 model.
The odometer shows 33,750 miles.
The seller acquired it from Scott Jenkins, the owner of Desmoto in San Francisco, California. Scott had apparently kept buying parts to build the bike and ended up with plenty:
He also rebuilt the motor, and it has not been run since. Scott bought it as he wanted one as a rider, but he never got around to building it so the seller snapped it up. We’re curious to see what the next owner does with it – break it down for parts or restore it? Our White Glove service is glad to help if someone would like to bring this bike back to life. Either way, this is guaranteed to find a new owner as we’re offering it with no reserve – the starting bid of $250 could win it. Please remember that our minimum buyer’s fee of $250 will still apply.
