If you’ve been following Iconic for any time, you’ll know that we’re huge fans of Scott Russell. We’ve auctioned off several of his Shoei replica helmets, but today we’re pleased to offer you a Scott Russell Arai Corsair-V Screaming Chief Helmet by Troy Lee Designs.
He earned his nickname, Mr. Daytona, in 1995 when he crashed at the Daytona 200 on the second lap. Despite the setback, he managed to not only proceed with the race but also win it outright ahead of Carl Fogarty.
In addition to his 5 wins at Daytona, Scott Russell racked up a win at Suzuka 8 hour, championships in both AMA Superbike and AMA Superstock, and he was the first rider to ever go undefeated in an AMA season. He went on to be crowned Rookie of the year in his debut Moto GP season.
His career was abruptly cut short when he was struck at the starting line at none other than Daytona International Raceway. In 2005 He was inducted into the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame.
