The Swiss watchmaker Tissot has been the Official Timekeeper of MotoGP since 2001, monitoring riders with 1/1000th of a second precision. They’ve made annual Limited Edition watches to celebrate as much, and today we have for you an example from the 2020 run.
Set against a black rubber strap and measuring 43.5mm in diameter, the case comprises a mix of carbon composite and stainless steel. A bidrectional stainless steel bezel bears a tachymeter — typical of racing chronographs — while the black dial is highlighted by luminous super Luminova hands and bar hour and minute markers.
In addition to three sub dials — displaying 1/10th-second, 30-minute, and 60-second increments, the watch also features a date display at four. Thanks to its reliable quartz movement, sapphire crystal, and 100-meter water resistance, it’s more than rugged enough to rock as a daily driver.
Here’s what Tissot had to say about the watch in their certificate of authenticity: “inspired by the cutting edge race bikes that compete in the MotoGP, the Tissot T-Race MotoGP quartz limited edition features a number of race-derived styling features, such as the timepiece’s bezel and crown guards simulating that of a race bike’s brake disc and caliper. the perforated leather strap with contrast red stitching is sportier than ever before. the t-race quartz’s sporty dial aesthetic mimics that of a motorcycle’s speedometer and tachometer.”
This example is 1,455/4,999. It is being offered by FJ Watches, who has worked with Iconic before to sell a number of motorsport-inspired timepieces.
The sale includes the original box and papers.
Cosmetic Blemishes:
Per the seller, “the watch is in used but very good condition.” There are “minor marks here and there. The battery is new. Everything is tested and works like it should.”
