Description

Additional photos of this Yamaha SRX400 are available here for your perusal.

This week, we are auctioning off several motorcycles out of a collection that came to us from Iowa – all with no reserve. Each one of the bikes has been on display for roughly ten years and does not currently run, however we quickly went through them to clean them and determine if they can fire up.

While Yamaha offered the SRX in the US as a 600 and a 250 (one year only for each), they also sold an in-between version in their home market of Japan to compete in the highly-contested (due to license restrictions) 400cc market.

The 3VN generation was a complete redesign that featured a mono shock swingarm with aluminum swing arm, 17″ wheels, and larger (38mm) forks.

This example is VIN: 3VN086154. We are not able to confirm the model year, but we estimate that it’s from 1986.

The odometer shows 35,164 kilometers (21,849 miles).

It has been on display for roughly 10 years. In preparation for the listing, the seller had us prove that it runs on starter fluid (please see video up top). Steve gave it a quick detail and once-over, he notes that it will need a battery, left side tail cover, fork seals, and tires.

Modifications:
Aftermarket turn signals.

Cosmetic Blemishes: please see the album for all known cosmetic blemishes. Here’s a selection:

It is missing the left mirror.

Inside of the tank:

The sale includes one key.

It is riding on IRC Road Winner tires from 2009.

Currently located at our facility in Santa Monica, California (please make an appointment for an inspection), this Yamaha is offered on a Bill of Sale only. Have any SRX stories or questions about this listing? Let us know in the “Comments” tab!
