Yamaha’s competitor to the very successful KDX200, the WR200 (WR stood for “Wide Ratio”) was only offered in the US for one year, though it was sold in other markets for longer. Only Trail Bikes calls it a good bike that did not sell well, guessing that it didn’t make much sense when the YZ250 was already such a good trail bike as well. Still, pop a pipe on it and it “went from a nice likable little thumper humming about on the trails, to a blood thirsty, screaming two stroke with a case of roid’ rage induced roost throwing episodes.”

Boasting nearly 28 hoursepower and 20 lb/ft of torque both at 7,000 RPM, this two stroke thumper has a 200cc engine mated to a 6 speed gearbox and is fueled by a single Mikuni TM30SS carburetor.

This example is VIN: JYA4BFW09NA002736. The seller acquired it from a private party in May 2025 through an Iconic Motorbikes auction.

During his ownership, the seller has covered roughly 200 miles. True mileage is unknown.

Maintenance:
“New front and rear tires, and a new battery.” The seller states that there are no known mechanical issues.
Modifications:
Pro Taper handlebar

Front headlight, front fender, turn signals.

Tail/stop light, plate light, and horn.

It is riding on Dunlop D605 tires with date codes of 0924 and 4124.

The sale includes a CruzTools tool kit with velcro mount on the bike, battery tender, and extra main/pilot jets for high altitude use.

Cosmetic Blemishes: please see the album in the “Photos” tab for all known cosmetic blemishes. Here is a selection:
“Some surface rust on the frame and tip of the muffler. Wear at the rear edges of the seat.”

Currently located in Newport Beach, California, this Yamaha is offered on a clean California title with registration current through September 2027.
