Description
Please note that this bike was initially listed as a 1982 model, however it is a 1983 model.
Additional photos of this ELR are available here for your perusal.
We know it here in the US as the KZ1000R ELR, but in South Africa this machine was sold as the Z1000R ELR. Either way, the ELR (Eddie Lawson Replica) is a legend. What American riders may not know is that this legend was offered in additional colors besides the traditional Kawi green in different markets – 1984 had Stardust Silver as an option, while 1983 had Polar White, as shown with this example. We recommend you check out KZ1000R.com for all the information you could want about these fantastic motorcycles.
This example (VIN: KZT00R-003108) is currently located in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The seller acquired it five years ago, and has covered approximately 60 miles on it during that time. The odometer now shows 17,268 kilometers (10,729 miles)
It was first registered on January 1st, 1983, and the seller states that it was “in single ownership most of its life and has been cherished with absolute care. The bike has been commissioned to run and ride again after having been stored as a showpiece. Everything is original on the bike down to the original tool kit and exhausts. It rides still so lovely and tight, with no wear whatsoever.”
Recent work includes an oil change and new spark plugs – “it was stored without fuel, so it started right up.”
The seller is letting it go as he’s downsizing his collection – you may have seen the green Eddie Lawson Replica or the Honda CB1100R he recently sold here on Iconic Motorbike Auctions. Per the seller, this Kawasaki “is a 37 year-old motorcycle in almost perfect unrestored condition, best described as a time warp.” If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to let us know in the comments below.
