Parilla was distributed in the US by Cosmopolitan Motors, and while the former had some success with a 175cc bike, Cosmopolitan asked for a 250cc engine.

Parilla responded with their distinctive high cam motor from their Grand Sports road bike. At the time, this made Parilla’s competition in racing a Triumph Cub, and the Parillas were winning handily.

MSRP at the time was about $1,000, double what you’d pay for the Triumph.

This example is VIN: 700637. Engine: 700637. This bike is one of over thirty motorcycles that we are auctioning off from the Alan Wilzig collection. Alan acquired it in 2009 and has kept it on display since. Per Alan, “this bike was meticulously restored by Hugh “Hughie” Weaver, the owner of Bultaco Classic, located less than one mile from Wilzig Racing Manor! The bike was prepared for display after the the restoration was completed and has remained in that state in my climate controlled private museum since purchase in 2009.”

There is no odometer – true mileage is unknown.

In February 2022, we cleaned the carb, topped off the oil, and cleaned the spark plugs. Our service department recommends a tank clean, oil/filter change, new spark plugs, petcock rebuild, new tires, and a new chain. The lights are non-operational and the carbs are leaking.

Modifications:
As part of the restoration, the frame has been repainted and we note that the wiring harness has been split.

Cosmetic Blemishes: please see the album up top for all known cosmetic blemishes. Here is a selection:

It is riding on IRC Trials tires that have aged out.
