An evolution of the incredible V7, the V11 Sport was a rare bruiser of a sportbike. Moto Guzzi enlisted Luciano Marabese to design a new model around the 1100 Sport engine, resulting in an early expression of today’s neo-retro cafe craze.
The air-cooled motor provided 91 horsepower to move around 546 pounds (wet) of distinctive styling – as Motorcyclist put it in their review, “this is how a motorcycle should be laid out, according to the eyes of a motorhead weaned on heavy American metal: a bank of cylinders (OK, a cylinder) jutting out at 45 degrees from either side, a big heavy engine block, a thick shaft driving the rear wheel(s). When you hit the starter, you know you’ve set something in motion.”
Of course, the Guzzi being offered today is a far-sight different to the V11 Sport that left the factory. The donor bike was turned into the custom cafe racer you see before you by renowned builder Alain Bernard of Santiago Chopper. We’ve included many of the modifications below, but please see the ‘Photos’ tab to appreciate the extent of the work performed.
This example is VIN: ZGUKRAKR4YM112821, engine #: 012827. The seller acquired the bike through an online auction earlier this year. He states that he’s selling because “this bike is a looker, goes like stink and gets a ton of positive attention, but my surgically-repaired back does not like the ergos. I have another, less attractive V11 that doesn’t cause me pain, so this one doesn’t get ridden.”
During his ownership, the seller has covered approximately 50 miles. There is no odometer; true mileage is unknown.
