The GSX-R line from Suzuki is no doubt one of the greatest (if not the greatest) sport bike dynasties ever produced. One of the less known Gixxers was the 250, produced for the Japanese domestic market only and launched in 1987.

Available in both fully-faired and half-faired versions (1987 only), the little 304lb (dry) four-stroke produced 45 horsepower at 14,500 rpm. The two barrel carb was changed to a four barrel downdraft carb in 1989 and it also got a new welded aluminium twin tube frame, strengthened forks, and stronger swingarm. This new model got a slight redesign and a “R” designation was added to its name, separating itself from the previous version which was still available.

Also released in ’89 was the Sports Production model. Sporting a single seat and a fully adjustable suspension, the blue and white SP also came outfitted with a slingshot carb and SCAI (Suzuki Condensed Air Intake). Production ended the following year in 1990 and Suzuki replaced the model with the similarly named GSX250F Across.

This example is VIN: GJ73A101360. The seller acquired it from Japan 12 years ago and states, “I wanted to complete the 250cc four cylinder by manufacturer collection so this was the last one.”

During his ownership, the seller has covered approximately 250 kilometers (155 miles). The odometer shows 6,523 kilometers (4,053 miles).

Maintenance:
In preparation for the listing, the seller had us clean and sync the carbs, repair the horn, clean, lube, and adjust the drive chain, and flush the hydraulic system.
