2004 Ducati 998S Final Edition

The 916/996/998 design is considered by many to be the most beautiful motorcycle ever built, and it has held up extremely well. Ducati’s internal celebration of the lineage was the 998S Final Edition (FE) – as the name implied, it was the end of the line. It was also only available by special order. We’ve heard (unofficially) that just 562 monoposto FEs were built.

The 998S FE was available as a monoposto or biposto. Cosmetically, it got a small “FINAL EDITION” script underneath the model name on the side fairings…

…and a tricolore on either side of the tail.

Many Ducatisti love this final form as it has all the mechanical updates Ducati applied over the years but still retains the iconic Tamburini styling before they dramatically mixed things up with the 999.

Mechanically, the FE featured the 136 hp Testastretta motor, Brembo brakes, and fully-adjustable Ohlins forks/shocks/steering damper.

This example is VIN: ZDM1SB5V04B023064. The seller purchased this bike from a private collection in Ohio in 2015.

During his ownership the seller has covered 3,593 miles. The odometer shows 4,593 miles.

“I bought this bike from a collection of a gentleman that was going blind. He had over 100 Ducati’s. I bought the bike with 1000 miles on it. I love this bike and I don’t really want to sell it. I’ve always had Ducatis since I was 16 years old. To me it’s the best looking Ducati ever built.”

Maintenance:
Per the seller, the last full service (including belts) was done 7/25/2015. The seller states that there are no known mechanical issues. “None at all, starts right up when the battery is charged.” The seller has informed us that he has ordered the fairing fasteners from Ducati in Italy and the missing fairing bolt will be replaced before the bike ships to the new owner.

Inside of the tank:

It is riding on Michelin Pilot Power 2CT tires that have aged out.

The sale includes two keys, the owner’s manual, bike cover, and tool kit.

The sale also includes the original windscreen, levers, shifter, and Ducati Performance (FG Gubellini) rear stand. The seller is also including a set of OEM fairing hardware to replace the one missing fairing bolt.
