Introduced to the US in 2012, the Tuono V4 R blended what MCN called “genuine superbike performance, advanced electronic rider aids, a MotoGP soundtrack and a real-world, roomy riding position.” They (and many other publications) asked, “Could this be the ultimate real-world superbike?”

In short, every publication concluded that the answer was “yes.” Thanks to 167 horsepower, 82 lb-ft of torque, more upright ergonomics compared to the RSV4, the best electronics package journalists had seen to date, and a reasonable MSRP, the Tuono was a huge hit with reviewers. “The Tuono V4 R looks like the bargain of the century, especially when you consider its high performance and level of equipment.”

The electronics package was APRC (Aprilia Performance Ride Control), and it included a quick shifter, three-way adjustable wheel control, launch control, and eight-level traction control. It was there when you wanted a safety net but everything could also be turned off for maximum thrills.
