Please Note: This bike is a part of the Whistler Collection.
Please Note #2: The seller notes that the “bike is in perfect order, but hasn’t been started in 7 or 8 years, no attempt made to start it. Clutch and pistons are NOT seized, battery is dead.” As such, there is a walkaround video but not a cold start video:
Introduced in the late 1970s, the GS1000 was one of the most powerful and technologically advanced motorcycles of its time. The GS1000 was powered by a 997cc, air-cooled, inline-four engine that produced 90 horsepower and could reach a top speed of over 130 mph. The bike featured a sleek, muscular design, with a distinctive teardrop-shaped gas tank and a large, comfortable seat.

At the time, Terry Vance was drag racing the R.C. Engineering Suzuki GS1000 in Pro Stock – setting a Pro Stock world record with a 9.00 second quarter-mile at 147.05 miles per hour.
In 1979, Suzuki ran a sweepstakes giving away 10 GS1000s that had been “specially styled after the record-setting Pro Stock GS1000 which drag racing star Terry Vance rides.” In addition to the special paint job, the package included a free helmet painted to match Terry’s as well.

Manufactured in September 1978, this example is VIN: GS1000128590. The seller acquired it in 2012 from a private party in Wisconsin.

During his ownership, the seller has covered 1,000 miles. The odometer shows 6,756 miles.

The original winner was a 52 year-old woman named Val Edwards – a newspaper clipping of her is included in the sale:
