Our friend Michael “Woolie” Woolaway has sold several motorcycles through Iconic Motorbike Auctions, including:

He also has a BMW R60 project (VIN: 618160, Engine #: 628960) that he acquired from a private party in Southern California in 2018, however he is moving and needs to find this project a new home.

All the parts are painted and pinstriped, not powder coated.”


“I bought a nice set of carbs that where missing and sent them to the Bing factory to get them refurbished to as new.”

“I bought a new headlight glass and an air box.”

“I also bought a new NOS throttle assembly that was missing.”

“From what I can see without putting it together it is missing the brake shoes, and that is about it.”

“Of course, there will be other small things found I am sure but I can’t tell what they are without assembling the bike.”

“The original rims were polished and Buchanan’s rebuilt the wheels with new spokes.”

“The motor was rebuilt, and I was told the gearbox as well.”

Cosmetic Blemishes:
There is a small scratch on the frame under the motor, I don’t think it will show the motor is mounted. There is also a small nick on the headlight bucket.”

Currently located in Venice, California, this BMW is offered on a Bill of Sale only. The sale comes with a California title from the 1970s that is torn up and likely no longer valid – the bike is no longer in CA DMV’s system. This photo has been edited to hide personal information.

Shipping Information

Continental US:
Haul Bikes will ship anything sold through Iconic for a starting rate of $750 in the Continental US (prices may increase in rural markets), and Iconic will handle the paperwork on your behalf. You do not need to crate your bike or drain the gas/disconnect the battery if you go with Haul Bikes. We are glad to work with the shipper of your choice as well, but you will have to arrange it.

Please note:

  • spares/extras will have to be shipped separately via FedEx or similar.
  • the fee includes $15,000 of insurance with a $500 deductible. Additional insurance can be purchased at a cost of $50 per additional $5,000 of value.
