Please Note: This video shows the first cold start of the bike after being in storage for 10 years:
1966 was the first year of the Shovelhead motor, a powerplant that would last until 1984 when Harley introduced the Evolution. The famous “Electra Glide” name signified that this bike had an electric starter.

Cycle World was impressed with the Shovel FLH, saying “In its field – high-speed, long-distance touring – the Electra Glide is without equal…the Harley-Davidson 74 V-twin is one of the finest motorcycle engines ever built, not because it is revolutionary or unusual, but because it is the product of years of thoughtful, careful, conscientious development”.

1969 was the last model year before AMF took over Harley-Davidson. It was also the last year for the “Genny Shovel.”

This example is VIN: 69FL13974. The seller acquired it in 2012 from an estate in New York.

During his ownership, the seller has covered 3 miles. The odometer shows 40,543 miles.

“I purchased this bike in April 2012 from an estate in NY state. Its restoration was started by West Enterprises in 2014, but the shop owner passed away in 2015, so the finish work was completed by Mckeever’s in Emmaus, Pennsylvania. The full bike was finished in 2016. Thereafter the fluids were drained, and it remained in my collection with 2 other generator shovels, as they are called. I put maybe 3 miles on it since it was done. It’s been in my collection, unused the whole time, parked in a conditioned space. The video shows its first start up since having been parked, which is estimated to be since 2016.”
Maintenance:
“I have documentation for some of the work done by West Enterprises, namely an incomplete work order which says, “get running” & “restore”. It shows new wheels, shocks, handle parts, fender paint but mostly cosmetics. I can’t recall what may have been done internally. I don’t seem to have complete records.”
Modifications:
“As far as I know the bike is very correct, which was one of the reasons that I first purchased it. We did paint the cases and engine covers as the engine was not removed from the frame, that was kind of a short but but the result still looks good.”
It is riding on Goodyear/Commander tires that have aged out.

The sale does not include a key.
Cosmetic Blemishes: the seller states that there aren’t any major cosmetic blemishes but the cases have been painted.
