Description
Additional photos of this Suzuki GT750 Patroller are available here for your perusal.
We’ve sold more than our fair share of Suzuki’s GT750 here at Iconic, but this is the first time we’ve had the chance to offer up a police variant – Suzuki called it the Patroller.
As a reminder, the prototype Suzuki GT750 was shown at the 17th Tokyo Motor Show in October of 1970 and launched in Japan in September 1971 as a sports tourer. Developed from the Suzuki T500 with an extra cylinder and liquid cooling, it was marketed as the Le Mans in the US and Canada. Looking at the success of the 4-cylinder 4-stroke engine, it was actually pretty bold from Suzuki to keep their 2-stroke engine. But the major innovation Suzuki added to their machine was liquid cooling, which lent itself to the international nickname of “Water Buffalo”. Indeed, the GT750 was the first mass production motorcycle from Japan that featured it.
Suzuki offered Patroller versions of both the GT500 and the GT750 – the latter was built sold between 1972 and 1976 mostly in Asia and Africa, though a few made their way to Europe and Australia as well.
There were several special features just for the Patroller:
Two 107mm lights mounted on the crash bars, controlled by a switch on the right handlebar. There’s a pilot lamp on the upper portion of the housing so the rider can quickly determine if the lights are on or off.
A more accurate speedometer with a button that will stop the needle at a given speed – pace a speeder and hit the button and you’ll lock in what they were traveling at.
9.4″ x 12.6″ x 3.3″ document box with a night light in place of the passenger seat.
Electric siren that’s activated via a handlebar switch.
This example is VIN: GT750-62051.
The odometer shows 66,184 kilometers (41,124 miles).
The owner recently passed away and his wife is hoping to find a good home with someone that will appreciate the motorcycle.
The seller notes that the radiator/oil cooler has a hole in it. The sale includes a new radiator/oil cooler.
The sale also includes several spare parts: exhaust, seat, rings, brake shoes, and several other unspecified pieces.
Additional extras include the original police helmet and old stock (in packaging) gloves.
You’ll also get at least two folders with old invoices, exploded views, and the owner’s manual.
Currently located in Lauchheim, Germany, this “Wasserbuffel” is offered on a clean German title with registration current through March 2022.
