When it was first released, the Honda GL500 basically sat in a class by itself – a full dress, middleweight tourer. Like the Gold Wing, the Silver Wing was available as an Interstate model which came with the fairing, saddlebags, and trunk.
The GL500 used the 495cc V-Twin engine that most people associate with the CX500. It was good for 48 horsepower but the bike weighed a hefty 478 pounds dry. This bike was built only between ’81 and ’82 – the year after the Silver Wing got the 650cc engine from the CX650 and a year later they were off the market.
The trunk replaces the back seat, though there are aftermarket solutions that let you mount the trunk further back.
This example is VIN: JH2PC0217CM101875. The seller acquired it three months ago from an estate sale.
During his ownership, the seller has covered 11 miles. The odometer shows 232 miles.
“Here’s an amazing opportunity to acquire a super low mileage Silver Wing in bone stock condition. With only one owner before me, this Silver Wing still retains the original Pennsylvania State Inspection sticker from 1982. After removing the bike from storage, the bike was professionally serviced including: New battery, rebuilt carbs as well as fresh oil and filter. The bike starts and rides like new. Brakes, transmission and all switches and lights work perfectly. This Wing is a rare and perfectly preserved example of the 80s Honda classic. Tires, seat and handgrips look what you would expect on a 200 mile motorcycle.”
Modifications:
This Silver Wing is completely stock.
Cosmetic Blemishes:
“Paint is excellent over the entire bike with only 2 minor issues. There is no indication of a tip over but rather storage related damage. Everywhere else is exceptional for a 40 year old motorcycle. There is a quarter inch chip on top corner of right saddlebag. The other is a “doorway” scrape on the outer edge of the right side of the fairing.”
Inside of the tank:
Currently located in Boyertown, Pennsylvania, this Honda is offered on a clean/open Pennsylvania title. The seller is a dealership (the great folks at Martin Moto) and the title is in the original owner’s name. Have any GL500 stories or questions about this listing? Let us know in the “Comments” tab!
