The Kawasaki Ninja 250 has launched the careers of countless motorcyclists and has earned its place in hearts of riders worldwide. It started in 1983 as the belt driven EX250-C, or GPZ 250, before being rebranded as the Ninja, and while it has changed over the years it has maintained a balance between sport and standard that has made it attractive to so many different types of riders.
Come 1986 Kawasaki decided to update the little bike, now the EX250-E, with a chain drive and branded it the Ninja 250R in the USA and Canada and the GPZ 250R throughout the rest of the world. It came outfitted with a 248cc parallel twin powermill which produced 37hp, redlined at 14,000RPM and topped out at 94mph.
