Introduced in 1993, the Yamaha YZF750R spent its time in the shadow of the Honda CBR900RR and the Ducati 916, however “it was the best everyday 750cc sportsbike of the 1990s“ as well as Sport Rider Magazine’s 1995 Bike of the Year.
Yamaha had already gone with the racebike-for-the-road route with the recent OW-01, so this follow-up 750 was a road bike first – racers had the option of a homologation version dubbed the SP. Per the above Carole Nash review: “Unlike the Ducati 916 and Honda RC45 against which it competed on track, the Yam was a bike of the people. With a claimed 125bhp, on tap it was more powerful than anything else
Manufactured in February of 1993, this example is VIN: JYA4HYN08PA000264. It came to Iconic as an import from Japan.
The odometer shows 12,645 kilometers (7,857 miles). Per the seller, the bike’s registration history suggests that actual mileage is 31,729 kilometers (19,715 miles). Accordingly, we must classify true mileage as unknown.
