The successor to the legendary RC30, Honda’s RC45 (or RVF750R) was a limited run homologation special created to help Honda re-establish supremacy in World Superbike. Like the RC30, the RC45 was powered by a liquid-cooled, 749cc, DOHC, 16V, four-stroke, 90-degree V4, though unlike its carbureted predecessor, the RC45 was bestowed with tunable electronic fuel-injection borrowed from the development of the NR750.

The bike also benefited from knowledge and experience gained in Honda’s RVF factory endurance race program. The RVF’s V4 boasted low-friction pistons, ceramic and graphite impregnated cylinder liners, titanium conrods, and a close-ratio six-speed gearbox with undercut shift dogs.

Even though the RC45 was built from 1994 to 1999, it was only officially sold in the US for its first year of production. In order to comply with WSBK homologation rules, 200 examples were produced the first year in ’94, followed by another 500 units made for the Japanese market. In total, only 50 units were ever made available in the US.

Manufactured in February of 1994, this example is VIN: JH2RC4501RM000052.

The odometer shows zero miles.

The current owner purchased it from a private party in Arizona in February 2021 through an Iconic Motorbikes auction.
It was sold new by Hollink Motorsports in Spencerport, New York in 2002 to a private party owner in Irvine, California. A letter from the original owner to the second owner states, “Bike was purchased from Hollink Motorsports in Spencerport, NY in December of 2002. My understanding is that the bike resided on their showroom floor from 1994 until my purchase of the bike. I found the bike somewhat by chance when I received an email from one of my contacts stating that someone he knew thought they saw a RC45 on the floor of a dealer in New York. After some research I tracked it down and subsequently purchased the bike after verifying that it was in fact a brand new US Spec bike. The bike has been properly stored in its original state with my collection since 2002.” The second owner (in Sun City, Arizona) purchased it in 2010 and kept it on display, he sold this RC45 and a few other machines with us in 2021:
1990 Honda RC30 With 1 Mile
1989 Suzuki GSX-R750RK With 5 Miles
