Sport Rider magazine (RIP) debuted the same year as the instant-classic Honda CBR900RR: 1993. In its first issue, SR summed up the RR by saying, “No production motorcycle, with the possible exception of the ZX-11, can provide the quality and quantity of giggles this little Honda can.” Some of that fun came through handling that some riders considered twitchy, so Honda changed things up a bit in 1995.
Specifically, Honda upgraded the suspension and updated the bodywork. Back to Sport Rider – in their 1995 review they said that “All (our testers) felt the changes made a significant improvement and agreed that they could ride more quickly with the same margin for safety on the new machine.”
This example is VIN: JH2SC2800SM302181.
This bike passed through Iconic Motorbikes a couple of years ago with a seller from Oregon and a buyer in Arizona – we were quite impressed with the condition of it, especially considering the mileage. It was then sold privately to the current owner in Texas in February of 2019. The odometer now shows 32,585 miles. Per the seller, “she looks like she has less than 5,000 miles on her. Truly remarkable condition.”
Modifications:
Period correct Two Brothers Exhaust – the bike will come with the original exhaust (a rare, one year only, stock exhaust).
Rear brake rotor, and the rear fender has been cut but still retains the OEM rear turn signals.
Period correct Second Look seat covers – the bike will come with the original seat covers.
Stainless steel braided front and rear brake lines.
“Additionally, the bike has been refreshed with factory OEM Honda paint on the left and right lower fairings (only). All fairings are original. Absolutely perfect color match and flawless finish. All other paint and decals are original to the bike. The lower fairings were in perfect condition structurally, but had small paint imperfections from the mileage over the years. They look factory new now.”
The seller points out one cosmetic blemish – a scratch on the underneath of the right upper fairing.
He adds that “mechanically, the following items are fresh and the bike is 100%:”
Brake pads front and rear, brake fluid front and rear.
Spark plugs, valve clearance checked and to spec, OEM air filter, engine oil and OEM oil filter.
“A Yuasa Battery was installed in June of 2019 and the bike is always maintained on a battery tender.”
“Tires are Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S21s with 2016 manufacture date codes and minimal wear – bike has been stored in a climate controlled garage and the tires are as new.”
“I have put about 200 miles on this bike recently and she runs flawlessly. True Honda reliability and perfection. Zero issues, the bike is perfect and needs nothing – unless you were to opt for new tires. During my ownership, the bike has only been run with non-ethanol premium gas.”
The sale includes the factory owner’s manual in the factory pouch along with the OEM tool kit.
It also includes three factory Honda keys.
The seller sums up his CBR by saying, “of all of my 90s era sport bikes, this one stands out. The 900RR holds her place in line with the 916 and the R1 for 90s royalty, and this livery screams the 90s. She draws a crowd.”
Currently located in Houston, Texas, this Honda is offered on a clean Texas title. Have any CBR900RR stories or questions about this listing? Let us know in the comments!
