The Swiss watchmaker Tissot has been the Official Timekeeper of MotoGP since 2001, monitoring riders with 1/1000th of a second precision. They’ve made annual Limited Edition watches to celebrate that fact, and today we have an example from the 2005 run. Here’s what Tissot had to say in their Certificate of Authenticity: “Limited to 5,002 pieces, this new Tissot Official MotoGP Watch Limited Edition, comes with a flashy red dial and structure rubber bracelet with special Tissot moulding evoking the tyre tread of the race bikes, and joined with an engraved butterfly clasp bearing the MotoGP logo.”

“It is certainly a watch to get you noticed in a crowd. Also designed around the world of two-wheel motor sport, the watch case covering is rich in carbon fiber and the bezel is inspired by the disc brake and clamp of the motorcycle wheel. The motorcycle sprockets also figure on the dial and the caseback is engraved with the limited number of the watch, the MotoGP logo, and an image of the security lock on the fuel tank and underlines the fact that Tissot is the Official timekeeper of these prestigious World Championships.”

“The watch comes in a specially designed box set in the shape of a smooth high-speed motorcycle wheel, including the 17 engraved medallions of each circuits of the 2006 MotoGP season.”

This example is #2,021 out of 5,002.

The seller purchased it from a Dutch jewelry shop called Europa Quartz in 2005. The sale includes the original box, Certificate of Authenticity, User’s Manual, “tire case”, and retailer card.

Currently located in Lienden, Netherlands, this watch is offered on a Bill of Sale only. The seller estimates that shipping to the continental US will be roughly $60. Have any Nicky stories or questions about this listing? Let us know in the comments!
