After the polarizing style of the 999’s vertically-stacked headlights, Ducati went back to the single sided swingarm, exhaust under the taillights, and side by side eyes made famous on the 916 – this time with a modern twist.
It was well-received – Cycle World said “On the road the 1098S isn’t just an improvement, it’s a revelation.” The 1099cc Testastretta Evoluzione twin engine produced a claimed 160 horsepower and 90 lb-ft of torque at the crank, good for a 10.015 second quarter-mile time and a top speed of 173 miles per hour.
Ducati offered an upgraded S model, which featured Ohlins suspension, forged Marchesini wheels, and some extra carbon fiber bits.
This example is VIN: ZDM1XBEW98B013150. The seller acquired it two years ago from the original owner.
Since then, he’s put just 10 miles on it. The odometer shows 1,378 miles.
Modifications:
Battery tender lead.
He states that this bike is in perfect mechanical condition with all services up to date, noting that he has some of the maintenance records from Gulf Coast Motorcycles in Fort Myers, Florida as well as the Ducati Code Card. He adds that the tank was replaced by Ducati on a warranty claim, and he has documentation for that as well.
Cosmetic Blemishes:
“The only blemish is the brake fluid reservoir cap, which is very common on this model.”
The seller is letting this go as he is thinning out his collection. He just sold a 998S Ben Bostrom through us as well.
The sale includes the original tool kit, passenger seat, rear sets, code card, and owner’s manual.
Currently located in Islamorada, Florida, this Ducati is offered on a clean Florida title.
