Ducati kicked off its range of SportClassic bikes with the Sport1000 in 2005. Taking inspiration from the 1973 Ducati 750 Sport, the model combined the look of a classic lightweight single-seat cafe racer and the feel of a modern sport bike. It used a two-valve 1000DS motor stuffed in a trellis tube frame with a 56.1 in wheelbase.
In 2007, Ducati expanded the SportClassic lineup with the Sport1000S. Along with a retro-styled fairing like the Paul Smart, it also came equipped with a dual-shock swingarm, a wet clutch, and a set of lowered handlebars.
If anything, the changes only added to the experience. As VisorDown put it best in their review: “The Ducati 1000S is exactly what a modern retro bike should be. It takes the best styling components of a classic and puts them into a modern chassis that works.”
This example is VIN: ZDM1WABP89B012566. Mark Sheppard acquired the bike approximately five months ago.
The odometer shows 1,637 miles.
