In 2011, Ducati replaced the 1198 S with the 1198 SP, which featured Ducati’s Quick Shifter (DQS) as well as full Ohlins suspension (including a steering damper). The Ohlins TTX rear shock was a $1,400 option on the base model.
It also got the trick aluminum fuel tank that was part of the previous year’s 1198 R Corse Special Edition ($1,500 option on the base model). The tank weighs less than the Corse’s 4.09 gallon tank but is able to carry 4.75 gallons. With a dry weight of just 370 lbs, the SP is 7 pounds lighter then the base 1198 model.
One reason for the decrease in weight was a set of Marchesini forged aluminum wheels ($2,300 option on the base model).
This example is VIN: ZDM1XBLW5BB030084. The acquired it eight years ago from Southern California Motorcycles in Brea, California. He’s letting it go as he’s just bought a new Aprilia RSV4.
During his ownership, the seller has covered roughly 2,500 miles. The odometer shows 18,492 miles.
Maintenance:
Besides minor regular maintenance, the seller recently had the timing belts replaced. “All maintenance has been done by a Ducati certified mechanic.”
Modifications:
Full Termignoni race exhaust with race ECU.
The bike was dyno’d after the exhaust and ECU, it put out 156.6 hp and 90.9 ft-lb of torque.
Tinted windscreen.
Cosmetic Blemishes:
The sale includes one key, CNC Racing rear sets, Ducati Data Analyzer, and a carbon fiber ignition guard.
Currently located in Rochester, New Hampshire, this Ducati is offered on a clean New Hampshire title.
