Much like we’ve recently seen with Kramer and the MotoAmerica Talent Cup, KTM was asked by Dorna in 2019 to create a spec racer for a European series as a feeder into the Red Bull Rookies Cup as part of what they called the “Road to MotoGP” – KTM’s answer was the RC4R with “the goal of offering a cost-effective racing series motorcycle, that attracts young people who aspires to race at a professional level.”

Per KTM’s Motorsports Director, Pit Beirer: “First of all we are very proud that we have been selected by Dorna Sports and ADAC as a partner for the new Northern Talent Cup on the Road to MotoGP™. It’s a great pleasure to work with young, talented riders and KTM is successfully doing this in other racing disciplines. We share the opinion that an easy entry-level bike was missing in the past, and we are happy to provide the appropriate machine for young riders with the ambition to reach the Moto3 category. This is especially true in relation to handling, service and cost efficiency. It was important to offer an optimal price-service ratio. We are looking forward to the launch of the Northern Talent Cup with exciting riders and race action. I am sure this concept will find and produce new northern and central European talent in road racing.”

It was originally requested for the Northern Talent Cup but that organization ended up going with the Honda NSF250R, so the RC4R became the bike of choice for the Austrian Junior Cup instead.

The RC4R featured a 250cc four-stroke single (from the SX-F motocrosser) producing 46 horsepower, a healthy number considering the bike weighed just 202 pounds. It was paired with a 5-speed close-ratio transmission built by Pankl, Cordona quickshifter, Brembo hydraulic clutch master, WP suspension, J.Juan brakes, as well as the same Koso dash and OZ Racing wheels used on Red Bull Rookies Cup bikes. KTM also noted that the bike “includes an electric starter to aid competing with minimal crew, making it more accessible and cost-effective for teams.”

This example is VIN: VBKR4K433PM115883.

There is no odometer, true mileage is unknown. The hour meter shows 0.0 and the bike is still in the crate, it has not been ridden.

The seller is the original owner, he purchased it directly from a KTM dealership but is letting it go as he does not use it.
