Additional photos of this Honda GB250 Project are available here for your perusal.
“Good design never gets old. Good things are evergreen.” That’s how Honda started a period advertisement for their GB250 Clubman, a bike which Honda which Honda introduced in 1983 which they said captured “the beautiful design essence of the 60s.”
The GB platform was also available in 400cc and 500cc versions (the latter of which was officially sold in the US), but the 250 was only sold in Honda’s home market of Japan.
The engine was actually a sleeved-down version of the unit found in Honda’s XR350R enduro – it was first used in the CBX250 but Honda thought the platform could be used for a modern retro and the GB250 was born. In this model, the engine sent 30 horsepower through a six-speed transmission. Dry weight was just 286 pounds, even with a 4.5 gallon fuel tank.
This example is VIN: MC101350843.
The odometer shows 10,856 kilometers (6,745 miles).
The owner imported this bike from Japan several years ago with the intent of reselling it in the US. He had it running and for sale at the 2019 Barber Vintage Festival. It did not sell there, and due to COVID the bike has been in storage since. At a minimum, it will need a new battery and the carbs cleaned to run. To ride, it would likely also need a full fluid flush and new tires. We have not inspected it.
Modifications:
Orange turn signal bulbs with clear housings.
It is riding on iRC tires with date codes of 3110 and 0218.
Cosmetic Blemishes: please see the album up top for all known cosmetic blemishes. Here is a selection:
Currently located at our facility in Santa Monica, California (please make an appointment for an inspection), this Honda is offered on a Bill of Sale with a Japanese title (translated) and Certificate of Export. Iconic’s White Glove service is able to assist in getting a US (Oregon) title, which will be transferrable into most states (not California). Have any GB250 stories or questions about this listing?
