Description
Additional photos of this Vyrus can be found here.
Vyrus is a boutique Italian manufacturer that was founded in 2003 by Ascanio Rodorigo — the same visionary who helped spearhead the development of the Bimota Tesi. Based in Rimini, the shop is located just a few miles down the road from Rodorigo’s former employer. The Vyrus team works almost exclusively with Ducati motors, cradling each one in a hub-steered frame and wrapping it in a plethora of fancy carbon fiber parts.
Believe it or not, this pint-sized pocket bike was built by the very same firm. However, even a Vyrus company rep stated that for a small bike, “It was too expensive, even for us“. To put that in context, Vyrus was selling a naked superbike with a supercharged Ducati 1198cc motor called the 987 C3 4VV back in 2010. Pricing started at over $90,000.
The model name breaks down as:
50 = displacement
C3 = cubic centimeters
2T = two stroke
Vyrus claims that the motor was developed for the Italian minimoto championship and that it’s rated for 13 horsepower. From a horsepower/liter standpoint, that’s 260! Approximate dimensions are two feet high by three feet long.
This example has no VIN. The previous owner has shown us correspondence with the Vyrus factory in Italy in which they confirm that 8 examples were built in 2005 – this is number 4. The seller acquired the bike through an Iconic Motorbikes auction.
There is no odometer; true mileage is unknown.
Maintenance:
The seller states that he has not had cause to perform any maintenance during his ownership. He has stored the bike dry inside a climate-controlled environment.
Modifications:
Custom-fabbed sidestand.
