Jorge Lorenzo got his start on the MotoGP grid after impressive back-to-back wins at the 2006 and 2007 250cc World Championships. He made an immediate impact with the factory Yamaha team, winning Rookie of the Year and taking fourth palce overall.
Throughout his time with Yamaha, Lorenzo proved consistently successful, winning the MotoGP championship first in 2010 and then subsequently in 2012 and 2015. As if that wasn’t impressive enough, the Spaniard finished runner-up in 2009 and 2011, and he narrowly lost out to Marc Marquez (by just four points) in 2013. He moved to Ducati for the remainder of his career, though he was unable to match his efforts while at Yamaha.
Jorge Lorenzo was inducted into the MogoGP Hall of Fame in 2022, and it’s not without good reason. With 47 premier wins to his name, he ranks fifth in all-time class race winners.
