Description
This week, we are auctioning off several motorcycles out of a collection that came to us from Iowa – all with no reserve. Each one of the bikes has been on display for roughly ten years and does not currently run, however we quickly went through them to clean them and determine if they can fire up.
Additional photos of this Yamaha SRX250 are available here for your perusal.
For decades, Kawasaki ruled the 250cc ‘sport’bike market – though in the 80s Honda challenged the little Ninja in the 80s with the VTR250 and Yamaha threw their hat into the ring with the SRX250. Team Blue only offered the SRX250 in the US for one year, though the model was offered in other countries as a naked standard with a circular headlight.
Powered by a 250cc single-cylinder 4 stroke engine, the SRX pushed out 17 horsepower and was able to rev up to 9,000 rpm.
It also features one of the best slogans we’ve ever seen.
This example is VIN: 3WP001603. We are unable to confirm the exact year of production, though it is likely between 1986-1988.
The odometer shows 38,989 kilometers (24,226 miles).
It has been on display for roughly 10 years. In preparation for the listing, the seller had us prove that it runs on starter starter fluid (please see video up top).
Modifications:
We cannot figure out what’s going on with the seat.
Cosmetic Blemishes: please see the album up top for all known cosmetic blemishes. Here is a selection:
It is riding on Dunlop K730 tires from 2011.
Currently located at our facility in Santa Monica, California (please make an appointment for an inspection), this Yamaha is offered on a Bill of Sale only. Have any SRX stories or questions about this listing? Let us know in the “Comments” tab!
Please Note: In response to customer requests, we are implementing an automatic bid bump: if your proxy bid meets or exceeds the reserve price, bidding will jump up to meet that price and you will see “Reserve price has been met” under the price. Please contact abhi@iconicmotorbikes.com if you have any questions!
