Along with its various other automotive endeavors, Lucky Strike sponsored Suzuki’s MotoGP efforts from the 1990 season until the 1997 season. The team gave rise to some of the most talented riders in racing history, including Kevin Schwantz, Scott Russell, Doug Chandler, Alex Barros, and Daryl Beattie.
Like other tobacco sponsors, Lucky Strike’s advertising proved controversial at the time. In fact, because some countries banned cigarette sponsorship in motorsports, Suzuki had to cover its bikes and kit with “Team Suzuki” logos. These days, however, it ranks amongst the most iconic liveries in motorsport.
This comes out of a collection of Suzuki MotoGP suits and bodywork that we have been auctioning off, including the Álvaro Bautista 2011 Suzuki GSV-R Bodywork, 1993 Kevin Schwantz Team Suzuki Fairings, Kevin Schwantz 1993 Helmet, Kenny Roberts Jr. 1999 Leathers, and more.
We believe that these are coveralls from Team Lucky Strike Suzuki in the early 90s, though we are unable to confirm the exact year.
Cosmetic Blemishes:
We have found no cosmetic blemishes of note.
Currently located at our facility in Santa Monica, California (please make an appointment for an inspection), this suit is offered on a Bill of Sale only. Have any Team Lucky Strike stories or questions about this listing? Let us know in the “Comments” tab!
