After approximately a decade and a half with the GSX-R1100 being the top of the Gixxer lineup, Suzuki introduced the all-new GSX-R1000 for 2001. Journalists felt it was the first bike to compete with Yamaha’s revolutionary R1 of 1998, and Suzuki was able to top the R1 with less weight and more power (374 pound dry weight, 160 hp/81 lb-ft at the crank).

Manufactured in May of 2001, this example is VIN: JS1GT74A212108881. The seller acquired it six years ago from a local collector.

The odometer shows 2,843 miles.

The seller acquired it as a display piece and has never started or ridden it. He calls it a “museum quality” example and adds that it has been stored in a climate controlled room. He has recently listed several impressive machines here on Iconic Motorbikes:
2006 Yamaha R1 LE With 6 Miles
2004 Aprilia RS250 GP1 With Zero Miles
1990 Suzuki GSX-R1100
1998 Yamaha R1
Modifications:
NOS rear seat cowl.

Cosmetic Blemishes:

It is riding on Bridgestone Battlax BT011 tires which have aged out.

Currently located in Central Massachusetts, this Suzuki is offered on a clean New York title. Have any GSX-R1000 stories or questions about this listing? Let us know in the “Comments” tab!
