Our buddy Kevin Erion has opened up his private stash of leathers, and we’ll be selling a few suits from some of your favorite Erion Honda AMA riders! This suit was worn by Jake Zemke.
Bruce Transportation was the largest school bus company on the East Coast for quite some time. When Bruce sold the company, he used some of the proceeds to start a race team. He contracted with Kevin from Erion Racing to not only build him a team but also to run it for him for a number of years. In many ways, it was a sister bike to the Erion bikes and actually caused some issues for Erion as its racing record was shadowing the parent team!
Jake was always found on a Honda while racing in the AMA during the 2000s – he spent 2001 and 2002 with Bruce Transportation (as the Erion Racing satellite team), 2003 with Erion Racing (5th in Supersport and 3rd in Formula Xtreme), then went to factory Honda from 2004-2007. He closed out the decade in 2008 and 2009 back with Erion.
In 2001, Jake placed 6th overall in AMA 600 Supersport, 47th in AMA 750 Supersport, and 4th in AMA Formula Extreme. In 2002, he placed 8th in AMA Supersport and 2nd in AMA Formula Extreme – he actually was tied for first in points with Jason Pridmore but Jason was given the title as he won more races that year. We are not able to confirm if this is from 2001 or 2002, but based on this poster from the 2002 season we assume these leathers are from his 2001 campaign.
The suit was made by Tiger Angel and has AGV Sport branding.
